the tinkerer - a guest post from sarah

i have a very special treat for you today friends, her name is Sarah from Tinkerer.  she's my very newest bloggy bud and i love her already.  we're so totally on the same wavelength!  so enjoy her, go check her out and love her as much as i do!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey!

It’s Sarah, also known as “Betty” because I’m a little homemaker…born that way…
& “Pockets” (because I love dresses with pockets),
Blogging my life away over at “Tinkerer”!

(Do you see the heron? I want this in my garden.)

I am a stepmama to a wonderful, archery, lego loving 10 year old who just so happens to know everything about all WWII planes. He would be my lifeline in that subject matter. I am a military wife; it’s different, doable, but totally wouldn’t wish the separation, uncertainty, fear, and the list goes on, on anyone. I work fulltime. I miss being a student and having a flexible schedule for my family.
If I were to define myself, I’d say I feel… a lot. Feelings don’t scare me. I embrace life, my family, my friends and I love that I feel passionately. I’m also always tinkering with something… reading, sewing, photography, hiking, beaching, gardening, baking… staying still is not my specialty.
I hope you enjoy this guest post

Lindsay has asked me to blog about “Clean Eating” and “Hippie-ish” stuff ‘cause that’s how we roll.

Lindsay,
Thank you very much for asking me to write. It’s always exciting being a guest blogger!

Garden:

It’s tiny, but it’s mighty.
There is nothing as tasty as a fresh tomato handpicked from your garden.
Add a jalapeno and some herbs…
And it sounds like Fresca Salsa time!

Fresca Salsa Recipe:
Mix in one bowl
Dice 2 tomatoes
Dice 1 red onion
Chop/Muddle 2 garlic cloves
Chop a handful of Basil
1 tsp of Olive Oil (or sunflower oil)
Squeeze a lime
Add S&P to taste

It’s great on grilled chicken, with celery, with chips (if you are cheating), on tacos…or by the spoonful!

Bruschetta Chicken Recipe:

Prep: 20 min. Bake: 30 min. Yield: 6 Servings

Ingredients
•1 egg with a dash of water beaten
•6 boneless skinless chicken breast halves
•1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
•1/2 cup dry bread crumbs (as needed)
•1 tablespoon butter, melted
•3 medium or 2 large tomatoes diced
•3 tablespoons minced fresh basil
•4 garlic cloves, minced
•1 tablespoon olive oil
•1/2 teaspoon salt
•1/2 teaspoon pepper
•1/2 cup mozzarella cheese

Directions

•Place bread crumbs and eggs in separate bowls. Dip chicken in egg, then in bread crumbs; place in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. Combine the cheese and butter; sprinkle over chicken.

•Loosely cover baking dish with foil. Bake at 375° for 20 minutes. Uncover; bake 5-10 minutes longer or until a meat thermometer reads 170°.

•In a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients (tomatoes, olive oil, basil, salt, pepper, to taste). Sprinkle/place cheese on chicken, then spoon the bruschetta mixture over the chicken. Return to the oven for 3-5 minutes or until tomato mixture is heated through.

I serve with a salad and strawberries, but any vegetable will do!
If you can’t tell, I am on a tomato kick.
If you had these beauties in your garden, I think you would be too!

Music.
It makes my soul dance.
Here are some artists I’ve been listening to lately…
Sam & Ruby
Dr. Dog
The Black Keys
The Civil Wars
And if you are into music festivals in the Greater Philadelphia area,
I’ve been going since I was in the womb. It’s stellar. Great earth loving hippies. Killer jams. Fun crafts for the kiddos. CAMPING. Lots of loving life.

I know them. And I didn’t take this picture. Those two lovely just happen to live down the street from my childhood home. And yes, she has a number written on her arm and most likely hasn’t showered in days. But look at those smiles! Good times!

Much love.

what's on aunie's heart?

HAPPY TUESDAY friends!
i have an extra special treat for you today, Annelise from Aunie Sauce, i just love 'er to pieces.  so enjoy her post & then go see her!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello lovely ladies!
My name is Annelise and I blog over at the little blog called Aunie Sauce.
I'm the girl who is "not."
NOT a mom. NOT a graphic designer. NOT a gourmet cook.
So, what am I?
A 20-something swanky Idahoan who blogs about
Let's just say, Aunie Sauce is NOT your average blog.

Even though I've got a whole bunch of not's going on, I did mention I blog about my what's on my heart, right?

In my short stint as a blogger,
I've been called saucy,
sassy,
and swanky.

But under all the zebra print,
glitter, and confetti...
my favorite thing to write about is what's on my heart.

It's usually love.
Just saying.

I mean.. to put it simply, I'm kind of a sap.
Like... a total mush-ball.
I cry during AT&T commercials, for heaven's sake.
It's slightly embarrassing.

I attribute all this cry-baby business to my past.
In the last year, I've been all over the place.
I had a very serious relationship that I botched (on purpose).
I really lost touch with my sense of reality.
I met the man of my dreams.
I became a Christian.
And I began to realize who I am.

I don't know why I'm telling you all of this.
Maybe to persuade you to come visit me?
Maybe to tug at your heart strings so you'll come visit me?
Maybe it really is just so you'll come say hi.
Yep.
That's all it is.

So do it.
Come read about my sauce.
My bearded dragon.
My style.
My past saucy drama.
My "On My Heart" posts.
And my lack of recipe posts.

See you there!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

now get goin'! :)

hope you're having a wonderful week!

Hey fabulous folks! My name is Tranae and I blog Becoming Fabulous

The lovely Lindsay is on vacation this week, so I thought I would invade her blog for a little while. Thanks a million for having me Lindsay and I hope you have a wonderful vacation.

I love traveling but since enrolling in grad school most of our vacation fund has been spent on books and tuition. However, we recently booked a cruise to the Bahamas and even though we are months away from I’ve been pinning cute outfits like crazy.  So today, I thought I would share my ideal Bahamas wardrobe.

Day 1- Sailing to the Bahamas

Day 2- Nassau
This will be our second time going to Nassau and I’m so excited to return to paradise island. The watersides and aquarium are amazing. I’m a little on the shy side when it comes to swimsuit so a one piece is a must.

Day 3- Fun At Sea
The fun at sea days are always exciting. This is usually the time when the boat is in full swing. Check out my daytime & nighttime outfits.

Day 4- Freeport
This will be our first visit to Freeport, Bahamas so we plan we plan to do some sightseeing.

Day 5- Returning Home
Its about a 5-hour drive from the port to our house so comfy jeans and shoes is a must have.

So what you think? Which outfit is your favorite?

--------------------------------------------------------

a huge thanks to Tranae for stopping by, isn't she just great?  i can tell you that my favorite outfit is definitely day 3 & day 4, i love those!!!

hope you're all having a great week, be back soon, xoxo!

fresh strawberries
fresh blueberries

Take an empty juice jug (I used a Simply Juice container) and add your pink lemonade mix, melon rum, malibu & triple sec.  Next, add water up the neck of the jug and shake, shake, shake what your Momma gave ya!  Once the drink mix has dissolved add in diced strawberries and blueberries.  Chill for an hour, then enjoy!!

Fashion Friday w/ Lena!!!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!
More exciting than the fact that it's Friday?  We have Lena guest blogging today and she's totally awesome.  She such a sweet lady and has amazing style.  So with that said, and to keep with our normal Fashion Friday posts - here is Lena with her Fashion Friday post!

So happy Lindsay asked me to guest here on Three Peas In My Little Pod!
I love discovering new blogs and meeting new friends!

My name is Lena and I blog over at Mom2MemphisAndRuby....
a little place in the blogosphere I'm happy to call my very own.
I blog about my life and everything in between!
I'm co-hosting a bunch of fun linkups right now and I love hosting giveaways,
so I hope you'll come on over sometime and stay awhile!  ;)

My newest online addiction is Polyvore!
I'm just starting to get the hang of it, so please bear with me!

I thought I'd share one of my very first sets...
I entitled this one "Dating" and if the hubs I could manage to sneak off once in a while, I would love to be wearing something like this...

I think it mixes just the right amount of sassy, flirty & edgy!
I'm a sucker for a long skirt
{this is actually a "midi" so it would fall in just the right place to show off these beauitful heels!}
and I love a cool {belted} blouse!

What do you think?
Is this something you'd wear out for a date?
Even after 15 years, my hubby still gets excited when I dress up and I think he would really like this one!
haha!  ;)

Thanks again Lindsay for letting me hijack your blog for a little bit!

Just when she thought she was all grown up...

Okay, time to introduce everyone to one of my favorite bloggers, Amanda!  I think a lot of us can relate to her blog, she's really down to earth and such a wonderful Momma.  Oh, and her daughter is ADORRRR-able.  :)

Hi everyone!  My name is Amanda, author of the blog Raising Miss Mommy.  I'm so excited to be here at Three Peas in My Little Pod!  Lindsay is so sweet and I just love her blog.  Her little family is too cute! I thought I would share some advice for all you parents to be out there, those of you thinking about starting a family and those of you with baby fever. When I first found out I was pregnant I got a little, well... dare I say, crazy?  Ok I admit it, I got a lot crazy.  I became paranoid about the foods I ate, the people I came into contact with {because no one washes their hands as good or as often as I do haha}, the animals I was around, and just about anything and everything.  To give you a better picture of how extreme I was, there was one time I called the "800" number on the back of a carton of milk because I could not for the life of me find where it said pasteurized on it.  So only naturally I deemed it utterly important to bother the milk company to ask my silly question.  The milk was in fact pasteurized, apparently all milk sold in grocery stores has to be {who knew?!}.  Not only was I crazy and paranoid but I was dead set on following a plan.  A plan for everything, the way my pregnancy would go, the way labor would go... I would later come to realize that pregnancy and labor are two of the most unpredictable things.  And this my friends is how I came up with my advice {I thought giving you a pretty good idea of how I was during pregnancy might make you take my advice to heart more ;)} Here are the things I wish I could have told my pregnant self...
Jealous of my extremely awesome polkadot pants???  I pretty much lived in them for 9 months :)
1.  Accept the things you can't change, control, or influence.  I was dead set on not getting an epidural and going into labor naturally.  Well in the end I was induced and ended up getting an epidural.  I buttered my belly up from the day I found out there was a nugget in there and I still got stretch marks.  There were plenty of other things too I had wanted to go a specific way but it didn't happen.  I survived, our daughter is healthy and happy, things still turned out better than ok.

2.  Talk about all things baby before the baby actually arrives.  Everyone talks about how beautiful and wonderful it's going to be once your little bundle of joy arrives, but sometimes we forget to talk about the other side of things.  The poopy, screaming, nocturnal qualities babies bring to our lives.  Like pregnancy you can't predict how your baby is going to be but it's still helpful to talk about things besides how cute they are.

3.  As the mommy, prepare yourself more for how you are going to feel after the baby arrives.  There's a lot to deal with.  After being the sole protector to your child for over 9 months it's a bit of an adjustment to have anyone else come in and even want to hold your baby.  Also, the first couple of weeks after birth are pretty darn uncomfortable.  It gets better, listen to your body and do yourself a favor... get out, go for a walk, there's no need to keep you and your new little family cooped up inside.

4.  Another one for mommy, remember that your husband/boyfriend/fiance/partner is there too and is just as capable as you at raising and caring for your child.  Not only that, they want to help.  Let go of some of that control, relax a bit :)

5.  Remind yourselves that you're doing great.  Really you are, it might seem like you are failing miserably when you can't seem to get your baby to stop crying, to eat, or sleep but you're doing great.

That's all folks, I tried to keep it short and sweet :) I could go on and on about the subject!  Did you like my advice, want to hear more?  Feel free to contact me and maybe I will have to do a follow up post on my blog!  Or just stop by for a visit :)

Hope everyone enjoyed having Amanda over as much as I did, now go check out her blog!!

Who's Feelin' Saucy??

Happy Monday Friends!!
I have an extra special post today.
We have the gorgeous Aunie Sauce here to guest post -
and let me tell you, she is fab!

HELLO buddies of Lindsay!
Can you believe she has the nerve to be on vacation??
In Florida, none the less.

Needless to say,
I'm a tad bit jealous.
So I'm here to take over her blog for the day...
I hope you don't mind.

My name is Annelise.
I blog over at Aunie Sauce.

When people ask me to describe my blog,
I honestly hardly know what to say.
Unlike Lindsay, I'm not crafty.
I don't DIY.
I'm not a mama to any cute little peas.
So, now you may be asking yourself,
what in the haystack do I blog about anyway?

Well... I'll tell you.
I tend to show off lots of photos of my style
(or occasional lack thereof),
I talk about my baby bearded dragon named Dobby,
I write little poems,
and I tend to just talk about the
daily happenings that are all things Aunie.

So... in general,
it's just a saucy little Idahoan's perspective on life.
Now doesn't that just sound enthralling?

If I haven't totally captivated you,
maybe you should just head on over there and check me out.
You'll never know what you may find!

A super special thanks to Aunie for coming by.  Isn't she awesome?  Check out her blog.  As soon as I came across it I was obsessed, she has the best style, and her nails?!  Totally amazing.  She may not be crafty, but she's got style, and not just clothes style!!  Now go check out her blog, she'll be sure to brighten up your day(and make you want to go revamp your wardrobe and get a manicure!!)!
