clean it up.

clean eating.  i'm doing it people.  and by "doing it", i mean like 90% of the time.  i'll indulge in some chocolate, a piece of delicious cake, a cookie made with white flour, and alcohol on occasion.  but the rest of the time?  clean it is.  i just got done reading The Eat Clean Diet Recharged by Tosca Reno - let me just say this lady is all out.  in a good way!  i won't be so hard core, but the core values of this lifestyle change are being put to use as of 6:30 this morning.  this was a really good book, brought to a light a lot of things that should be common sense.  eating real foods, meat, nuts, lots of water - that'll change your health, who knew?!  now again, i'll indulge in one or more diet sodas this weekend i'm sure, but as all things in life - moderation is key.

after reading the book i realized that i already eat pretty clean, so this shouldn't be too hard to implement the rest.  just a matter of cutting out some of the junk i eat.  i'm all about natural stuff and being green anyway, so this is sort of just the last step.  i'm also going to get max on board as much as possible, although most of his eating happens at daycare.

clean eating is not a raw food diet, it's not macro, it's not vegan.  it's not even a diet.  it's a lifestyle change, and one that i think is not impossible.  eating zero carbs for the rest of your life?  no thanks.  eating real, unprocessed, fresh, healthy food?  sign me up.  again, we don't eat much processed food to begin with, so this won't be too hard for us(i say that now...).  i'm going to do a post at least once a week with "what i ate" to show the amazing foods you CAN eat while eating clean.

happy (healthy) humpday!

p.s.  i'm considering subscribing to the clean eating magazine - anyone already a subscriber?  love it?  hate it?  let me know!

  1. Good for you! I'd love to hear some of the things you eat, too. I've tried something like this before, but always resort back to my old habits D: Hopefully you have better luck than me!

    1. well like i said - most of the food i eat on a daily basis already fits into the eating clean lifestyle, so it isn't far out of my reach to begin with. and trust me, i'll be indulging in some old habits(b/c i love coke zero, wine & chips!) once in a while too. i'll post what i eat for sure, thanks for stopping by :) xo!

  3. Do you have a garden? If so, that is the number one thing that helps me eat healthy! Growing your own food is so rewarding and really makes me creative when it comes to making fresh food creations. Also, it's much easier to eat healthy during the summer with all the great fresh fruit and veggies! Lastly, if you don't buy it, you wont eat it :) easier said than done because I love my sweets and wine!

    2. I have a tiny garden with herbs, 3 tomato plants, a bell pepper plant and a jalapeño pepper plant. My 10 year old stepson helps a little, buts it's pretty much my little "me" thing!
Blueberry bushes are on my list of things to grow once I have my own house. Renting makes gardening a little challenging.

    3. yes, having your own house does make gardening easier. before i had max i had a big garden w/ tomatoes, bell & hot peppers, zucchini & squash, herbs, beans, broccoli & cauliflower. not everything worked out though, and the next year i got pregnant and the garden ceased to exist. hopefully soon i'll get it back up & running though!
