goodbye.

well friends. it's been fun. but i'm afraid i have to go. i started this blog to share my journey through life and motherhood. and it turned into something different. it wasn't a bad thing... but it's not what i intended. i wanted something i could share with max someday. i wanted a way to keep family and friends in the loop of our life. so that's what i'm going to do.   from now on i'll be blogging at alexander road if you want to follow along, but...   beware -- there won't be recipes.  there won't be diy.  and there won't be any fashion fridays, tuesday ten or anything else..    it's going to be purely for my little boy. 

fashion friday - photo sesh

i got max's photos taken today. for the first time ever. (bad mommy moment) in my defense, my cousin who is very talented with the camera did a little photo op for us at 3 months, but nothing since then has happened.  and max is now 2. well, my friends, it was worth the wait, and i've only seen 1 photo so far, it's ADORABLE. that's me tooting my own horn. (proud mommy moment) he was actually fairly cooperative, which is not usually his style. he was actually a bit of a ham, posing (for chocolate chips), smiles & kisses galore. so, wanna know what we wore?? i know you do.  so here.

in a nutshell

today in a nutshell.   up at 5:30 - 8 mile run quick shower & prep dinner for the crock pot potty time, no nap, tensions flare, spilled wine, cuddles, sigh.   umm, yes.  that was my saturday.   started good, we're 2 weeks away from the half marathon and i'm getting excited.  came home, was productive.  then reality hit.  we're in the throws of potty training.  it's not fun.  josh left to go watch the psu football game at his parent's (b/c we nixed our cable, remember that bright idea?).  max would not go down for a nap.  i was exhausted.  we watched way too many episodes of little einstein's and sat on the potty all afternoon pretty much.  josh came home, we had dinner, relaxed (as in, not relaxing at all..), i stepped away for 2.2 seconds and left josh in charge.  max spilled my glass of red win all over a bin of toys.  that was fun to clean up.  finally it was bed time.  i feel horrible for saying i was counting down the seconds.  but i was counting down the seconds.  terrible twos and potty training sure does take it's toll.    but then we cuddled before bed, i got lots of kisses (unheard of), and now i'm enjoying an unspilled glass of wine.  little boys with little undies are seriously too cute (i say that in the least creepy sense possible).  even when potty training sucks.

weekend wrap up

this weekend was awesome.  we seriously have not had a relaxing weekend at our house in months.  months.  friday night we went to the local farm market, got fresh, for real milk.  oh, and in a glass bottle to boot.  so old school, so cool, love it.  then i cooked and relaxed.  ahhh, so nice.  saturday i ran 6 miles, which of course is a great start to the day.  we hung out, then went and hung out with some amazing friends.  ate some amazing food, played yard games, drank beer, came home and had a slumber party with max in my bed.  today was the icing on the cake.  had the most productiv day in a long, long, looong time.  got so much stuff done around the house it's almost unbelievable.  went to the garden center and got the fixin's to make a pumpkin man.  then i did some shopping, made dinner and finally when max woke up we made pumpkin man.  such fun.  oh, and we also are officially cable free.  and i'm not freaking out.  at all.  shocker.

weekend wrap up

it's sunday evening again.  insert sad face here.  i'm not ready for the weekend to be over quite yet! we had a slumber party in mommy's bed friday night.  played with little friends.  drank some wine. today went to "the city"(harrisburg) so max could see all of the big buildings.  we saw a bum eating chips. we walked by and max says "what he doing, what he eating".  umm, chips, now keep walking. we relaxed the rest of the day, did some finger painting outside.  the most eventful part of today? probably when i walked into max's room to tell him to GET TO SLEEP and found him playing with his own poop.  yes poop.  smeared on the floors, puzzle, rocking chair.  hands covered, under his nails.  UMMM, yuck.  it was seriously a nightmare.  then he never did nap.  was a rude, crazy, and dare i say bratty little boy.  helloooooooo terrible twos.

my sunday posts have been wrap ups for quite some time now, so i'm going to make it official.

there, it's official.

we spent the weekend at my parent's river cabin.  in normal fashion - delicious food, one too many drinks, friends, laughs, relaxing, the same old same.  oh, and perfect.  yepp.  gotta love river weekends

came home today and getting the house in order.  cleaning.  doing a detox foot soak (post to come..).  made my water weight detox drink (post to come..).   dinner's on the stove simmering (simple spaghetti sauce with pesto.  post to come..).  and a little more relaxing, because hey, that's what sundays are for.

weekend wrap up

this past week/weekend was a little crazy. i had lots of things to do during the week, including a playdate with my favorite momma. then the weekend was filled with lots of fun at the shore.  we came back to a flooded basement (more on that later..)
